An Evening with Ken Burns: Film Preview
Hear from Ken Burns and get an early look at his new six-part PBS documentary that explores the country’s founding struggle and its eight-year War for Independence. Ken Burns has been making documentary films for almost fifty years. He has directed and produced some of the most acclaimed historical documentaries ever made. His films have been honored with dozens of major awards, including 17 Emmy Awards, 2 Grammy Awards and 2 Oscar nominations.

Arrival: Noon
The orientation video upon arrival is optional
Mansion Tour: 1:00pm in front of the Mansion
Lunch: 2:00pm Mt. Vernon Inn Restaurant
Free Time: 3:00pm-5:00pm
Special Event Begins: 5:00pm on the Bowling Green
There will be a food truck available during the event for snacks
Documentary Preview begins: 6:15pm
Special Event Ends: 8:15pm
Things to Consider
There is no seating provided for the Special Event so you will need to bring a chair or blanket to sit on. The bus we are taking only has enough room to store chairs that can fold up into a bag. We can use the wagons to bring the chairs in but must remove the wagons before 5pm
The Mansion and the Museum are undergoing renovation so there are parts that are off-view
Restroom Locations: Ford Orientation Center, North Lane in the Historic Area, Donald W. Reynolds Museum & Education Center, Vaughn Lobby, Mount Vernon Inn
Mount Vernon Explorer is a great app that can be used during free time to explore the property

Large-print maps are available at the Orientation Center
A shuttle runs continuously between the Museum, the Slave Memorial and Tomb, and the Wharf. Shuttle service is included with our tickets and runs on a first-come, first-served basis. Wave to request assistance
Unopened bottled water can be taken on the property
Wear comfortable shoes, as there are dirt paths and some uneven walkways
Bags larger than 16x16x8 inches are prohibited
