“Rocky Spring Church was founded in 1734. It established a log-constructed church in 1738. In 1794 the present structure was built by Walter Beatty. Rev. John Craighead, Pastor, gave a “urgent sermon” one Sunday morning for men to join the Continental Army with himself as Commander and Chaplain. From that sermon, one became a general, four become colonels and twelve became captains! 1898 is the disbandment year with the Presbytery of Carlisle taking over. The Franklin County Chapter DAR have helped take care of the church and adjoining cemetery since 1919. Pick up times are CP Renn at 10:30 AM LC at 10:40 AM and NG at 10:45 AM.
