Come From Away
Regional Premiere
Totem Pole Playhouse is proud to present the Regional Premiere of one of the most uplifting and celebrated musicals of the modern era—Come From Away.
In the days following September 11, 2001, when the United States closed its airspace, 38 planes carrying nearly 7,000 passengers were unexpectedly grounded in the small town of Gander, Newfoundland. What happened next became one of the most remarkable and heartwarming stories to emerge from that difficult week. The people of Gander—population just 9,000—opened their homes, schools, churches, and kitchens to complete strangers, proving that even in moments of uncertainty and fear, kindness and generosity can bring people together.
Many people say, “We remember September 11th—but we miss the feeling of September 12th.” Come From Away is the story of September 12th. It’s the story of neighbors helping neighbors, strangers becoming family, and a community that reminded the world what compassion truly looks like.
Winner of multiple Tony Awards and beloved by audiences around the globe, Come From Away is filled with powerful storytelling, humor, soaring music, and unforgettable characters. The show moves at a thrilling pace, with a talented cast portraying dozens of real people whose lives intersected during those extraordinary days.
For audiences in small-town America, this story feels especially close to home. It celebrates the same values we hold dear—community, generosity, resilience, and the simple idea that when people need help, you show up.
By the end of the evening, you’ll laugh, you may shed a few tears, and you’ll leave the theatre reminded of the goodness that still exists in the world.
Don’t miss the Regional Premiere of this remarkable musical when Come From Away arrives at Totem Pole Playhouse in 2026—a powerful, moving celebration of humanity, hope, and the strength of community.
Cost: $40.00

Shippensburg University Fashion Archives and Museum visit
The Fashion Archives and Museum is pleased to announce the opening of Happy Birthday! American Milestones from Lafayette to Today. In conjunction with the 250th anniversary, this exhibition explores how Americans celebrated their independence in 1826, 1876, 1926, 1976, and includes fashions from each time. Visitors will enjoy the luxurious silhouettes of the eighteenth century, colonial revival fashions of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, right up to the flappers of the 1920s and groovy styles of the 1970s. Historic souvenirs and textiles from these anniversaries illustrate Americans’ growing appreciation of their history and how they commemorated the nation’s founding through an increasing number and type of souvenirs.
Fashion Archives and Museum Director, Dr. Karin J. Bohleke, noted that the museum was “very fortunate to receive object loans from the Renfrew Museum and Park in Waynesboro and from other private collections” that supplement the wonderful artifacts chosen from the Fashion Archives holdings. “Once again,” she added, “thanks to an outside grant, we have benefitted from the return of exhibit designer Charles Mack. We are very grateful to have obtained this generous external support that made it possible for Chuck to work with the Applied History students. It is a significant learning opportunity for them to see how a designer brings together all the elements of an exhibit.”
The Fashion Archives & Museum (FA&M) is located in the Davis House at Shippensburg University. It features an expanded collections storage area, an airy exhibit gallery, and a separate library to house the fashion reference collection.

Visit to Long Acres Alpaca Farm, Mercersburg, PA

Who We Are
From the Owners
We have always had an interest in living on a farm and raising “something.” Both born in Chambersburg, PA, we moved away briefly to pursue our educations (Mike is a Cardiologist and Sarah is a Nurse Practitioner), we were drawn back to the area for what has turned out to be our dream.
After searching for many years and having more than a few let downs, we found a farm for sale at a public auction in 2002. In just a few short months, we had purchased the 130-acre farm in Mercersburg, PA and moved into the farmhouse that had been uninhabited for 40 years.
Naming the farm was easy. Our farm is over a mile long, and if you remember back to the 1960s to a show called Green Acres … well, we joke that phoning from atop the electric pole might work better than our cell phones!
By 2004, we were ready to raise that “something.” We considered the usual suspects … cows, goats, and sheep to name a few, but then we stumbled upon alpacas one evening while out shopping for Christmas. Six months later, we purchased our first alpacas, several bred females and one male cria who would later become our “ambassador alpaca.”
We hope you’ll take some time to learn more about our story and, even better, come visit Long Acres Alpaca Farm!
